SAMBA: The District Administration Samba, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, today organised an awareness seminar and interaction event on the newly introduced criminal laws in the Conference Hall, DC Office Complex, Nandani Hills.
The seminar aimed to educate officers, legal professionals and stakeholders about the key provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). These new laws mark a significant transformation in the country’s criminal justice system, replacing existing ones with a more progressive legal framework that encourages the idea of reformative justice.
Eminent speaker Dr. Animesh Jha, who connected virtually elaborated on fundamental changes in criminal procedures, key provisions of the new laws, the concept of FIRs, crimes against women among others. The discussions highlighted how these reforms aim to improve law enforcement, streamline judicial processes and ensure better protection of citizens’ rights.
DC Samba emphasized on the importance of public awareness for the effective implementation of these laws. He underscored the role of informed citizens in fostering a legally empowered society.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by AD Handloom, Niharika, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to promoting legal literacy and enhancing the efficiency of the justice system in the district.
