UDHAMPUR: Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Education, Shantmanu, conducted an extensive tour of Udhampur district here today.
As part of the visit, the ACS released the maiden edition of newsletter ‘Baoli’ at Government Degree College for Women Udhampur.
Present on the occasion were Director Colleges, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, Additional Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Prem Singh, Principal of the College, Dr. Nalini Pathania, faculty members and students.
On his arrival at GCW Udhampur, Shantmanu was accorded guard of honour by the NCC Cadets.
While speaking on the occasion, Shantmanu congratulated the college on the release of its maiden newsletter ‘Baoli’. He underscored the importance of balancing academic excellence with physical activities to ensure better mental health. He urged the students to choose their career paths wisely, aligning them with their personal interests.
During his interaction with the faculty members and students, the ACS appreciated the efforts of the college administration in ensuring high standards of education. He encouraged the students to focus on their studies while actively participating in extracurricular and developmental activities.
He stressed the importance of yoga, physical fitness to shape a successful professional future.
Director Colleges, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, commended the Principal and faculty for their dedication in showcasing the college’s initiatives through ‘Baoli’. He further informed the Financial Commissioner that GCW Udhampur has been recognized as one of the leading colleges in the region.
Later, the ACS visited the Government PG Boys Degree College Udhampur, where he interacted with the Principal and faculty members to review the overall functioning of the institution.
Dr. Verma briefed about the academic progress and infrastructural development of the college. He emphasized the significance of literary activities, music and other extracurricular programs in fostering the holistic development of students.
Earlier, Dr. Pathania presented a brief about the infrastructural requirements of the College for its smooth functioning. She highlighted that the newsletter has been titled ‘Baoli’ due to its local significance, as the Udhampur region is known for its rich heritage of stepwells.
The newsletter showcases the achievements and activities undertaken by various cells and committees of the college while emphasizing its commitment to academic excellence, innovation and community engagement.
