KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner, Devansh Yadav chaired a meeting of the District Advisory Committee for Pre-Conception and Prenatal Diagnosis Techniques (PC&PNDT).
During the meeting, the Chief Medical Officer provided an overview of the regulation and registration of laboratories and clinics in the district. He also gave a presentation on offences and penalties related to PC&PNDT and discussed IEC activities under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned to ensure online registration of laboratories and ultrasound clinics for greater transparency and accountability. He also stressed the importance of effective implementation of the PC&PNDT Act and directed concerned officers to take action against violators.
The meeting discussed the status of the district sex ratio and it was informed that Kishtwar is one of the highest sex ratio districts. The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chief Medical Officer to sensitise chemists and drug store owners to maintain a record register and follow prescriptions strictly in chemist shops and drug stores selling abortion drugs. This step was taken to ensure the safety and well-being of women seeking abortion services in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed CMO to constitute enforcement teams for conducting frequent inspections of ultrasound clinics and chemist shops to ensure compliance with the Act and check illegal sale of MTP pills. In addition, he instructed CMO Kishtwar to strengthen sputum collection at Primary Health Centres in rural areas under TB Mukt Bharat Campaign.
The meeting was attended by various officers and officials including DSWO Zubair Ahmed, CMO Kishtwar Yaqoob Mir, Dy CMO Balbir Singh, I/C Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar Sham Lal, MNGO Sanjeev Parihar and other members.
