PSPS GCW Gandhinagar organises symposium on “Problem of Drug addiction: Issues and Concerns”

JAMMU: Department of Sociology, Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, in collaboration with IQAC and under the guidance of Principal Prof. Minu Mahajan, organised a one-day symposium and lecture on the theme “Problem of Drug Addiction: Issues and Concerns”.

The event was attended by around 140 students.

Drug De-addiction Programme Coordinator, Jammu and Kashmir Society for Promotion of Youth and Masses, Novinder Kumar, was the guest speaker on the occasion who gave a detailed presentation on the problem of drug addiction and its impacts on physical, mental and social well-being.

In her welcome address, Head of Sociology Department, Suraj Mohani Jamwal stressed the importance of awareness on social issues for students and highlighted that the department will organise a series of such events in the future.

Prof. Minu Mahajan motivated students to learn about their rights and social responsibilities. She urged young minds to play their role in creating awareness against social evils. 

Convener of Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Yash Pal Sharma, stressed the importance of a healthy lifestyle and good social environment for students. Twelve students also gave presentations on the issue and were provided with certificates of appreciation. The resource person answered various queries from students.
