Women development cell GDC conducts programme on International women’s day under G-20 Activities

UDHAMPUR:  In the series of programs with respect to the Presidency of India of G20 Nations and taking on the Torch of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav, the Women Development Cell (WDC) of the College in collaboration with Debate and Symposium Committee, AKAM Cell, and YSYB organized today a meaningful programme on the International Women’s Day.

The entire programme was conducted under the guidance of patron and Principal, Prof. (Dr) Romesh Kumar Gupta who was also the chief guest in the programme, Whereas Prof. Seema Kotwal was the guest of honour and Prof. Babu Lal Thakur and Prof. Romesh Kumar Atri were the special guests.

Sharing his ideas about the event, the chief patron, Prof. Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta, congratulated the Women Development cell, Debates and Symposium Committee and AKAM Cell, for organising the Relevant programs during the deliberations on G20 Programmes as envisaged by the Department of Higher Education, JKUT.    

He appreciated the presenters, the participants and the faculty about their deep understanding of the Importance of the gender equality and place for women in the society and the world. He invoked all the members to be proactive against any kind of atrocities or violence against women in the society.

Prof. Seema Kotwal was of the view that she is noticing the change in the young males of the nation  who are honestly coming forward for the cause of the women and the empowerment of the women is possible only this way, particularly when both the genders get a sense of equality in a natural manner.

Prior to this the Program started with the welcome address by Dr. Jasmeet Raina, a member of WDC.

After this the College Musical Band Devika Strings, comprising of Akashay, Anmol, Manish and Bhisham, under the guidance of Prof. Samosh Kumar, presented a motivating and soulful mash-up invoking the spirits for rising high.

It was followed by an awe inspiring Short Play Choona Hai Aasmaan by the members of Yuva Soch Yuva Bharat IKAI members including Antriksha, Prerna, Mohit, Binamtosh, Harsh, Rikhil Goswami, Sahil and Ritesh. The skit made all the people in the audience spell bound. The story was based on the struggle of a girl to achieve her goals against the odds of the society.

Dr. Pankaj Sharma, Coord. AKAM Cell, Co-Convener Debates and Symposium Committee Coordinated the Various parts of the Programme and also presented an overall view about the various aspects of Gender sensitization for real empowerment of the women  .

The Program was attended by Prof. Babu Lal Thakur, Dr. Sunil Kumar Bhat, Prof. Imtiaz Shahid, Prof. Sunita Kumari, Prof. Sarita Parihar,  Dr. Kawaljeet Kour, Dr. Firdous Ittoo, Dr. Rozy Bamba,  Dr. Ravinder Kumar, Dr. Vipul Chalotra, Prof. Kaku Ram, Prof. Rachna Bharti, Dr. Ankush Bharti, Prof. Rajan Bharti,  Prof. Pooja Dheeman,  Prof. Sanjeet Singh, Prof. Pooja Kumari, Dr. Rupali Sharma, Dr. Suruchi Pandoh, Dr. Sonam, Dr. Diksha Gupta, Prof. Yogesh Sharma, Dr. Mokshe, Dr. Ranjan, Dr. Sanjay, Dr. Jyoti, Dr. Chetna,  Rajneesh Mahajan, Rajinder Gupt alongwith a number  of other members of the staff and the  NSS Volunteers,
