DHEW-Mission Shakti Budgam conduct series of Awareness camps under AKAM & BBBP

BUDGAM: The District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) – Mission Shakti in collaboration with One Stop Centre Budgam conducted series of camps under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) and as a part of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) at Panchayat  Halqa Kawoosa Khalisa A&B, Kawoosa Jagir, Narbal A&B, Chewa, Arath, Kanihama, Mazhama, Batpora of Block Narbal and Panchayat Zoohama, Yarikalan of Panchayat Chadoora.

The event was aimed at spreading awareness about the importance of education for girls and the need to prevent female infanticide and discrimination against girls

Several prominent personalities, including government officials, social activists, and religious leaders participated in the event.

During the campaign, the team DHEW-MS highlighted the significance of educating girls and the need to provide equal opportunities to both boys and girls. The participants also pledged to work towards creating a safe and supportive environment for girls in their respective communities

The team DHEW also raised awareness on different schemes like Pension schemes, Scholarship schemes, Prosthetic Aids, SMAS and Women empowerment schemes such as DHEW, OSC, WHL 181, Shelter Home, Marriage Assistance Scheme, Ladli Beti, PMMVY, Employment generation schemes such as Tajeswani, Mumkin, PMEGP, etc.

The team also gave detailed information on how DHEW-Mission Shakti is playing an effective role by providing awareness/training among young female folks to generate self-employment by taking advantage of available schemes at District level.

They also raised awareness on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, its ill effects, causes and treatment, and also briefed the participants about the initiative Drug De Addiction Centre and rehabilitation centre which plays an important role to make drug addicts free of addiction.

The treatment-cum-rehabilitation centers provide services to the community such as awareness generation, Identification of addicts, motivational counseling, detoxification/ de-addiction, vocational rehabilitation, after care and re-integration into the social mainstream and preventive education.  

At the end of the programme, many parents showed their support for the cause by enrolling their daughters in schools. Blankets among girl children were distributed under the initiative of BBBP.
