SRINAGAR: A webinar “How to keep yourself safe on the Internet” was today hosted by Cultural Unit Kashmir, Department of Information and Public Relations on the eve of Safer Internet Day.
Around 60 students from different educational institutions participated in the webinar who were made aware of safer Internet use in day to day life.
Cultural officer, DIPR Burhan Hussain while hosting the webinar as expert said that the exponential increase in the number of internet users and rapidly evolving technologies have brought in its own unique challenges, besides aggravating the existing problems of cybercrimes, which is one of the fastest growing forms of transnational and insidious crimes.
This makes cyber awareness an important tool the students need to be equipped with, he remarked.
He also screened a ppt in which he highlighted Device safety/protection, Password Guidance and account security, Protecting Personal Information, Using social media safely, Social Engineering and phishing emails/text, Online shopping & Online Banking safely.
Besides, he also detailed on other important points including Keeping youngsters safe online, Safer Internet Day – Using tech responsibly, respectfully, critically & creatively, Signposting to further sources of support and resources and reporting.
AD, Sachin Bali, social media Incharge DIPR said that the Safer Internet Day is celebrated to make the internet a safer and better place for all, mainly for children and young people.
Participants raised questions which were answered by the experts during the session.
Officials of Cultural Unit also participated in the webinar.
