Awareness/ Exhibition camp on ‘Encouraging Artisans towards Self Reliance’ held at Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: An Awareness cum Exhibition camp with the theme ‘Encouraging Artisans towards Self Reliance’ was today organised by the Handicrafts and Handloom department, Ganderbal at Mini-Secretariat complex, here.

The camp was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Shyambir along with Deputy Registrar, INDUSCOS, Srinagar, Deputy Registrar, Cooperative Department, Ganderbal, Assistant Registrar, Handloom, Srinagar besides a good number of Artisans and Weavers of various registered cooperatives of district participated in the programme.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted various benefits of Cooperative formation in length and breadth saying that a robust mechanism has been put in place for providing benefits to the artisans/cooperatives at grassroots level.

Meanwhile, other guest speakers delivered lectures on the theme and sensitized the participants about various flagship programmes and schemes available in the department, with special reference to Cooperatives.

During the camp, the artisans and weavers were sensitized about the benefits of Geographical Indications (GI). They were also assured of every possible help for their upliftment.

The camp concluded with the vote of thanks given by the participant artisans and weavers to the Department for this brilliant and encouraging effort.
