DC B’gam calls for strict enforcement of Road Safety measures, massive awareness & training on BLS

BUDGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today chaired Regional Transport Authority cum District Road Safety Committee meetings at Conference Hall, here

At the outset, the DC instructed ARTO and CMO offices to impart training on Basic Life Support (BLS) and massive awareness of drivers, shopkeepers and other first respondents including residents residing near accident prone areas.

He stressed on speedy disposal of cases under Road Safety Accident Victim Fund Rules 2022 and issuance of death certificates within 48 hours.

Stressing on all road safety measures be implemented in letter and spirit, the DC emphasised on prompt data sharing of accident victims for accident fund release to injured or next to the kin.

 Besides on formulation of District Road Safety policy, the DC instructed R&B and other concerned for identification of black spots and installation of visible signages on the roads especially near blind spots ,curves and schools to avoid accidents.

Traffic police was instructed to launch an aggressive campaign on implementation of relevant laws across the district and take strict action against the violators.

Directions were passed to the education department and ARTO for mass awareness through print and electronic media, Rallies on “Road Safety Drive” to be organised. Do’s and Don’ts to be shared with the public on social media.

The DC called for active involvement of Road Safety Clubs, Good Samaritans trained for road safety for prompt assistance or emergency care for persons injured in road accidents.

Earlier, ARTO Budgam, Manzoor Ahmad apprised the chair about the agenda wise details of the work of Road safety committee constituted in the district.

Among others, SSP Budgam, Tahir Saleem Khan, ADC Dr Nasir Ahamd, CEO, CMO, Executive engineers of R&B, Irrigation and DySP Traffic Budgam, Executive officers of all municipal committees of Budgam were present in the meeting.
