Workshop on Fundamentals of University Outreach held at IUST

Awantipora:  A one-day workshop on “Fundamentals of University Outreach” was today organized by Mantaqi Centre for Science and Society, Islamic University of Science & Technology with the aim to educate and sensitize participants about important aspects of outreach practice and its challenges.

Besides highlighting the theoretical framework of Outreach, the workshop also focussed on tools and techniques of Outreach, through varied activities that include presentations, interactive sessions, role play, demonstrations, and action research. Presenting a detailed overview of the University Outreach Program, Prof. Lily Want, Dean Outreach highlighted the role of outreach activities in the academic journey of the students and stressed the students to avail of these opportunities to gain useful insights.

Dr. Andleeb Coordinator MCSS and Convenor of the workshop spoke at length about the theoretical framework of institutional outreach and emphasized the importance of values and ethics in outreach. She also deliberated on the necessary skills and various tools and techniques of Outreach. Dr. Aijaz Ahmad Qureshi, Research Officer, MCSS and Organising Secretary of the event in his welcome address, gave a brief overview of the various activities being coordinated and conducted by the MCSS.  The event was attended by faculty, scholars and students of various departments/centres.
