DC Kulgam reviews progress of Agriculture & allied sectors

KULGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat today reviewed the performance of Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries, Animal and Sheep Husbandry, and other allied sectors.

During the meeting district officers of the respective departments briefed the chair about the performance of their respective departments and the future plans.

Chief Animal Husbandry Officer briefed the chair that annual Milk production of the district is 163k tons. He added that 158392 Artificial Inseminations were conducted and under NADCP 89500 vaccine doses were given.

He also shared that under CAPEX, IDDS/IPDP/FDS, Rs. 5.85 lacs have been disbursed among 13 beneficiaries for establishment of dairy units.

The DC stressed the CAHO to work on the establishment of a dog sterilization centre in the district and also work on establishment of poultry hatchery.

The District Sheep Husbandry Officer briefed the chair that during the year 2022-23, 1.90 vaccination doses were given.

He added that under RKVY, ISDS and Backyard more than 130 Eve units were established during the year 2021-22, 2022-23.

The Chief Agriculture Officer informed the chair that for promotion of Lal Mirch an area of 120 hectares has been adopted in the district and 26.20 Hectares has been bought under sweet corn cultivation with annual production of 699 MTs.

He also added that 8 Tractors, 24 Power Tillers, 05 Mini Power Sprayers and other farm machinery were distributed during the financial year 2022-23.

The Chief Horticulture Officer informed that an area of 29 Kanals have been brought under Ultra High Density Plantation whereas 92 power tillers and 759 motor power sprayers were distributed.

In the Sericulture sector, the officers informed that the district recorded 27k kgs of cocoons.

A detailed discussion was also held regarding targets and achievements in this regard.

The DC also reviewed functioning and progress of Fisheries, Floriculture and other allied sectors.

The meeting was by ADDC, CAO, CHO, CAHO, DSHO, AD-Fisheries, LDM and other concerned officers.
