My Town My Pride: Series of activities held at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: As part of ongoing Jan Abhiyan, prelude to ‘My Town My Pride’ programme, a series of activities were held today across the district. 

On the occasion, awareness cum training programmes, seminars, plantation drives, special sanitation drives, water sample testing, anti encroachment drives and other activities were carried out by various departments across all municipal areas of the district. 

As part of this ambitious programme, Unite Kashmir, a Youth organisation, in collaboration with Sub-District Hospital Sopore also organised a daylong awareness camp on ‘Ethics of Hospital’ at SDH Sopore here. 

The awareness camp was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar as chief guest.

Senior Superintendent of Police Sopore, Shabir Nawab, President, Municipal Council Sopore, Masarat Kar, functionaries of health department, students and various stakeholders were present in the awareness camp.

At the outset, the DC handed over Cheques to Self-Help Groups and Street Vending Certificates to the concerned beneficiaries. Maternity Kits were also provided to the lactating mothers.  

On the occasion, the concerned authorities of the organizing body highlighted the aims and objectives of the organization towards society.  

The DC while speaking on the occasion appreciated the initiative of the NGO for organizing Mega Awareness Camp aimed to benefit the general people. She asserted that the need of an hour is to contribute towards society and urged the people to make a commitment for ensuring the welfare of the society as volunteers. 

Dr Sehrish said that affordable and accessible healthcare to all segments of the district is our top-most priority but Healthcare professionals need to evolve the best Doctor-Patient relationship.

She said that people should also be sensitized with regard to their duties towards Hospital besides their role in maintaining its hygiene.
