People from different walks of life join Anti–Drug rally at Budgam

BUDGAM: People from different walks of life today joined an Anti-Drugs rally here organised by Media Fraternity Budgam and District Administration Budgam.

The rally started from Beheshte Zahra Park Budgam and culminated at Old Bus Stand, with participants raising slogans ‘Say No To Drugs’ during their march.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid led the march and officers and officials from Civil and Police Administration, members from civil societies, trade organisations, students and representatives from Media and other fields also participated in the rally.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the rally was taken out to generate awareness regarding the hazardous impact of drug abuse on the youth in particular and on the society in general.

He urged locals to extend their support to curb this menace at the grassroots level and save our youth from falling prey to the peddlers.

The DC said that the anti- drugs campaign shall continue in the district and awareness shall be carried out in every part of the District.

Meanwhile, participants raised awareness on the role of citizens of Budgam as their moral, social and religious obligations to curb the drug menace.

They were holding placards in their hands to sensitize people that the drugs are a death trap and endangers not only the life of the user but his entire family and hampers his overall personality development, and this in turn badly affects the society as a whole.
