Police arrests two drug peddlers in Anantnag; Contraband substance recovered

Anantnag: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Anantnag have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A specific information was received by Police Post General Bus Stand Anantnag that one person namely Adil Ahmad Shah son of Bashir Ahmad Shah resident of Doni-Check Anzoola has indulged in drug peddling and has hoarded large quantity of narcotic substance in his residential house. Subsequently, a police party along with concerned Executive Magistrate raided the specific location. During search, 5.5 Kgs of Bung Bossa was recovered from the said house. Accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Meanwhile, a Police Party from Police Post DK Pora at a checkpoint intercepted a vehicle (Innova) bearing registration No. DL4CNE-0285 driven by Irshad Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie resident of Shelipora Achabal. During search, 250 grams of charas was recovered from his possession. He was arrested and the vehicle was also seized.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered and investigations have been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
