ADDC B’la kick-starts Inter-District LePanga Khel Kabaddi Tournament at Tujjar, Sopore

BARAMULLA: Giving a major fillip for popularizing sports culture at local level, the Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Baramulla, Aijaz Abdullah Saraaf in presence of Assistant Commissioner Revenue Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad and DDC Member Tujjar Sopore today kick-started Inter-District LePanga Khel Kabaddi Tournament at Tujjar Sharief, Sopore.

The event witnessed a huge crowd of spectators adding much zeal and enthusiasm to the sports event.

Tournament was organised by the local organizers wherein the inaugural match was played between Northern Lions and Sultania Tujer. Northern Lions Nowpora Sopore emerged as the winner of the inaugural event. About 32 teams from different districts are going to participate in the tournament.

The ADDC, who was the chief guest, highly applauded the local organizers for conducting the event and said that the District Administration will undertake all necessary initiatives for providing appropriate platforms to utilize the potential of youth in a constructive and productive manner.

He added that youth of the area are taking keen interest in sports activities and underlined the need for developing sports infrastructure.

Terming the sports as a potent tool for overall personality development, ACR in his address, said that sports has the potential to shape young minds by inculcating the spirit of sportsmanship and discipline. He said that sports develop the aptitude of fitness among our youth besides keeping them aloof from wrong and hazardous activities.
