Director Agriculture Kashmir reviews Physical progress of agriculture activities of Anantnag

ANANTNAG: The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today reviewed the physical progress on the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and Capex budget.

 While expressing his views in the meeting, the Director highlighted the importance of effective and timely utilisation of funds for the welfare and wellbeing of the farming community. He said every single penny allocated must be utilised for the development of the agriculture sector and for the benefit of the farming community.

The Director instructed the officers to remain in touch with the farmers of their area of jurisdiction and maintain a telephone diary of the contact farmers and the activities in the field must be focused for the farmer’s welfare.

Iqbal impressed on the officers of departmental farms to make efforts for the optimum utilisation of these departmental assets. He reiterated the importance of a futuristic roadmap for the maximum output from the departmental farms.

The meeting discussed the progress on the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes including PM Kissan, Soil Health card scheme, Registration of Bee Keepers on Madhu Kranti portal, Registration of new FPOs etc in detail and instruction regarding various issues were passed on to the concerned officers.

The meeting was attended by Chief Agriculture Officer Anantnag Aijaz Ahmad, Potato Development Officer Kashmir Naseer Khan, District Agriculture officers of the district and other senior officers of the department. 

Later, the Director visited Potato Seed Multiplication farm Kalnag where he inspected different blocks of the multiplication farm and interacted with the concerned technical experts regarding various latest interventions adopted by the farm this year.

 Speaking on the occasion, the Director said that the departmental farms must focus on the development and multiplication of high yielding varieties of agriculture crops (including potato), appropriate production and protection technologies, post harvest management and production of good quality seed.

The Director exhausted upon the concerned officers to invite farmers and agri-preneurs from the concerned areas to these departmental farms and hold demonstration sessions with them so the modern trends and technologies in this trade could be imparted to the grass root level in a comprehensive manner.

The Director was accompanied by Potato Development Officer Naseer Ahmad Khan and other officers of the department.
