DC Kupwara finalises Rs 2 crore plan under SANKALP

KUPWARA: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Imam Din, today convened a meeting of District Skill Committee (DSC) here, to discuss and finalize the formulation of District Skill Development Action Plan under Skill Acquisition and Knowledge Awareness for Livelihood Promotion (SANKALP), a programme of the Ministry of Skill Development, Government of India.

 The meeting held threadbare discussion with regard to successful implementation of the programme and finalized the plan of Rs 2 crore for 2022-23.

The DC directed the concerned officers to extend full cooperation and support to achieve cent percent targets. He said skill development is the basic component which can overcome unemployment in the district.

He stressed upon the officers to ensure all methods are employed so that there is an easy access for unemployed youth to skill development programmes. He also exhorted the youth to come forward and take advantage of the Government schemes aimed at providing employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of the district.

The DC stressed to utilize the funds for accessing latest skill and job market demands/studies linking skill development activities.

He urged all concerned officers to work with coordination so that better and desirable results could be yielded at ground level.

The meeting was informed that a grant of Rs 2 crore has  been provided by Mission Director J&K Skill Development under SANKALP to undertake different activities for successful implementation of the programme. It was given out that under the programme District Skill Committee was constituted and the skill profile of the district has been assessed.

During the course of the meeting, various decisions were taken.

Among others, JD Planning, Principal Polytechnic College Kupwara, District Social welfare Officer, Officers from different departments and other concerned attended the meeting.
