Awareness camp on Labour Laws organized at Anantnag

ANANTNAG: To educate stakeholders about various provisions of labour laws, including minimum wages, social security benefits, occupational safety standards and grievance redressal mechanisms, Labour Department Anantnag today organised awareness camp on labour laws at Dak Bunglow Khanabal, Anantnag. 

The camp was held under the co-chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Syeed Fakhruddin Hamid, and Labour Commissioner J&K, Charandeep Singh. 

The camp was attended by Executive Engineers, Block Development Officers and principal employers and labour representatives of District Anantnag.

Addressing the gathering, DC said that such camps are much-needed to improve the delivery of various legal rights and entitlements to labour groups. He further directed that similar Information, Education and Communication (IEC) awareness camps must be organised at Block levels.

The Labour Commissioner called on the concerned officers to ensure enrollment of labour groups in various beneficiary oriented schemes of the Labour Department including Employees’ State Insurance Corporation. He also hailed the present initiative as a balanced platform wherein the government officials, industry stakeholders and labour representatives can come together to promote Labour welfare.

Later, an Interactive session was conducted where other participants gave a state of the implementation of various labour laws in their jurisdictions.They also gave feedback regarding the implementation of various labour oriented initiatives.

To facilitate better understanding, pamphlets and booklets were distributed among attendees.

Notably, the Labour Department plans to conduct more such awareness drives  in the district for Labour welfare in the coming months.
