DDC reviews progress of Tourism Development projects in Poonch

POONCH: To strategies development of the tourism sector in Poonch, District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal convened a meeting to review the ongoing activities and progress achieved in tapping the district’s potential. The meeting underscored the achievements and outlined future plans aimed at bolstering tourism in the region.

The meeting was informed that the Poonch Development Authority is currently overseeing 37 projects across the subdivisions of Poonch, Mendhar, and Surankote. Of these, 32 projects have already been completed, while work is in progress on the remaining initiatives. Additionally, within the Tourism Department, three out of five designated projects have been successfully completed.

The Deputy Commissioner evaluated various developmental initiatives, including the establishment of Eco Parks, Tourism Parks, and Children Parks, as well as beautification efforts and other vital projects in the tourism sector. He emphasized the necessity of developing robust tourism infrastructure to attract more visitors and enhance the local economy. He urged the concerned officers to prioritize infrastructure development in light of the growing tourism sector.

In a directive aimed at improving accessibility for pilgrims, the Deputy Commissioner instructed the XEN PWD (R&B) to project a road from the main road to RamKund Temple. He also tasked the Tourism Officer with planning and constructing a viewpoint shed at the Ram Kund Temple to enhance the visitor experience.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including XEN PWD (R&B) for Poonch, Surankote and Mendhar, AD Tourism, Accounts Officer Poonch Development Authority and other concerned officials.
