DC Baramulla reviews PMAY-G, PMAY-U & MGNREGA progress

94% Rural & 70% Urban targets achieved

BARAMULLA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, today chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the status of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin (PMAY-G), Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) and MGNREGA in the district.

During the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla informed that under PMAY-G, a total of 339 houses were sanctioned under the SECC category, out of which 336 have been completed, marking a 99% completion rate. Similarly, under the non-SECC category, 5621 houses have been completed against a target of 5999, achieving a 94% success rate.

Appreciating the overall performance, the DC directed that the remaining houses be completed by June 2025. He stressed the importance of expediting the remaining works and ensuring all genuine beneficiaries receive timely assistance.

Under PMAY-U, it was informed that 70% of the targeted houses have been completed. The DC directed the concerned officers to ensure that construction work is initiated immediately by those beneficiaries who have not yet started work on their houses.

He also instructed Executive Officers of Municipal Councils/ Committees to identify suitable land for BPL beneficiaries under PMAY-U and initiate the process of identifying eligible beneficiaries for the upcoming PMAY Urban 2.0 phase.

The DC emphasized transparency, effective monitoring and inter-departmental coordination to achieve full saturation and realize the goal of ‘Housing for All.’

The DC also reviewed the implementation of MGNREGA in the district, during which Additional Deputy Commissioner apprised him of significant achievements under the scheme. Against the targeted 11.35 lakh mandays, the district has generated 24.06 lakh mandays, reflecting substantial overachievement.

A total of 15,000 works have been taken up under MGNREGA, out of which 14,100 have been physically completed and 6,937 completed financially. The remaining 8,063 works are under various stages of execution. The district has ensured timely wage disbursement, achieving 99.96% payments within the stipulated 15-day period. The total material liability under the scheme stands at Rs.32 crore.

Joint Director Planning Baramulla, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Baramulla, Assistant Commissioner Development Baramulla, Executive Officers of Urban Local Bodies and Block Development Officers were present in the meeting.
