Commissioner SMC inspects Dewatering Operations in Srinagar

SRINAGAR: In a proactive measure to address water logging issues caused by continuous heavy rainfall, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Dr. Owais Ahmed today conducted an extensive inspection of dewatering operations across various neighborhoods in Srinagar.

During the visit, Dr. Owais assessed the efficiency of the ongoing dewatering efforts and engaged with field staff to review the operational strategies being implemented. He personally inspected several vulnerable hotspots and permanent dewatering stations, ensuring that all necessary measures were in place to mitigate water logging.

The Commissioner also observed the deployment of advanced Mobile Pumping Units and the functionality of permanent dewatering stations, which play a crucial role in managing urban flooding.

Additionally, he monitored the dewatering through the SCADA system, a technological tool used for real-time monitoring and management of drainage infrastructure.

Commending the diligent efforts of the ground teams, Dr. Owais emphasized the importance of maintaining a coordinated response during adverse weather conditions. He also urged the public to refrain from disposing of waste into drainage networks, as blockages lead to severe water logging and urban flooding.
