DC Rajouri Kick-starts Historic Beautification Project in district

RAJOURI: In a major initiative to enhance the aesthetics of Rajouri town, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma today kick-started the beautification project, aimed at transforming the area around the airfield and adjacent road into a visually appealing and pedestrian-friendly zone.

The project, which gained momentum following the personal intervention of DC Rajouri, has been made possible through strong civil-military liaison, with the Indian Army permitting development work in the designated area. The start of this initiative clearly reflects the robust coordination between the civil administration and the Indian Army in working towards public welfare and urban development.

To commence the project, ₹50 lakh has been earmarked, with additional funds to be allocated as the work progresses.

Key Features of the Beautification Project includes 3D murals depicting martyrs, warriors, cultural heritage, tourist places, and prominent institutions, Aesthetic enhancements and landscape development, Greenery and ornamental plantations and Well-structured footpaths to ensure safe pedestrian movement.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Rajouri Abhishek Sharma highlighted the significance of the project in modernizing the town while preserving its rich heritage. He expressed his gratitude towards the Indian Army for their cooperation in facilitating the project and also thanked to all stakeholders for their collective efforts in making this vision a reality.

The event was attended by SE PWD Devi Dayal, CPO Maqsood Ahmed, Executive Officer of the Municipality Yusaf Umar, Executive Engineer PWD Sardar Khan, and representatives from the defense establishment.
