Zoya Khan, Delhi’s ‘lady don’, arrested with Rs 1 crore heroin after years of evading police

NEW DELHI: Police have arrested Zoya Khan, notoriously called the ‘Lady Don’ of Delhi, in a major drug bust.

The 33-year-old wife of gangster Hashim Baba was apprehended with 270 gm of heroin worth about Rs 1 crore in the international market.

Zoya was arrested from Welcome area of northeast Delhi.

The large quantity of heroin was allegedly sourced from Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar.

Police said on Wednesday they caught Zoya after they received information about an unknown person delivering drugs to her.   Zoya’s husband has been in jail since last year for his alleged role in the murder of a gym owner in South Delhi’s Greater Kailash.

She managed her jailed husband’s criminal empire by running his gang while ensuring that no direct evidence could link her to the illegal activities. Zoya was on the police radar for long but had managed to evade them.

Despite suspicions about her role, the police had never been able to build a solid case. Hashim Baba also has other cases against him, ranging from murder and extortion to arms smuggling.

Zoya is his third wife. She married Hashim in 2017 after her divorce. The two were neighbours in northeast Delhi where they fell in love.
