NEW DELHI: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who is also Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, and Rahul Gandhi, Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, will skip the inaugural function of the investors’ summit at Bengaluru in Congress-ruled Karnataka on Tuesday evening.
Writing on X, Jairam Ramesh, Congress general secretary incharge of communication, said the two leaders would not be able to take part in the function because of their pre-occupation with the Parliament session currently under way in Delhi.
“Both the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha and @INCIndia president Mallikarjun kharge and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi are extremely tied up in Parliament today on account of the continuing debate on the Budget. Hence, they have regretted their inability to attend the inauguration of the Karnataka Investor Summit this evening in Bengaluru,” Ramesh wrote on X.
“They have sent their best wishes for the summit and are confident that it will be a very productive and successful one in keeping with Karnataka’s unique competitive and comparative advantages,” Ramesh added.
It is, however, learnt that the two leaders are skipping the event because they are unhsppy about Union ministers and BJP leaders getting prominence at the event hosted by the Congress government.
The ‘Invest Karnataka 2025’ global investment meet is being held in Bengaluru from February 12 to 14 with the theme “Reimagining Growth”. The event will see participation of several top industrialists as well as some global investors.
