Awareness prog on World Unani Day 2025 held at Anantnag

ANANTNAG:  Department of AYUSH, District Anantnag, today organized an awareness programme at the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag-affiliated hospital in Janglatmandi to commemorate World Unani Day 2025. The event honored the legacy of Hakeem Ajmal Khan, a stalwart of Unani medicine, and underscored the significance of this traditional healing system in contemporary healthcare.

The programme witnessed the participation of esteemed medical professionals, Unani practitioners, and scholars who deliberated on the relevance of Unani medicine in modern times. 

In his address, Dr. Ali Mohammad Reshi, District AYUSH Officer Anantnag, highlighted the pivotal role of Unani medicine in holistic healthcare. He spoke about the achievements of the AYUSH department in the district and reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering research and integration of Unani practices into mainstream healthcare.

The event’s Chief Guest, Dr. Rafi Ahmad Jan from GMC Anantnag, along with other distinguished experts, addressed the gathering, shedding light on the various dimensions of Unani medicine.

They emphasized the need to popularize this ancient system across the district to ensure its benefits reach a wider audience.

A dedicated technical session was also conducted, where experts demonstrated different Unani treatments for managing and preventing diseases. Attendees were educated about the holistic principles of Unani medicine, which emphasize natural healing and balance within the body.

The awareness programme concluded with a call to action for greater research, awareness campaigns, and policy support to further strengthen the Unani system of medicine in the region.
