SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Shishir Gupta today convened a meeting of officers to discuss the accessibility issues related to specially abled persons and remedial measures as guaranteed under the RPwD Act.
The DC reviewed accessibility amenities available in public office and directed concerned officers for inclusivity of PwDs and other vulnerable sections of society.
While speaking on the occasion of commemoration of the International Day of persons with disabilities he emphasized on the need for concerted efforts for inclusive and sustainable future for them.
DC stressed for the creation of a more focused approach towards PwDs and other vulnerable sections of society.
The event featured an awareness of government welfare schemes aimed at providing support for livelihood generation, skill development and financial assistance to persons with disabilities.
Participants from the specially-abled community also shared their success stories, inspiring others with their achievements.
These initiatives reflect commitment to raise awareness about the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and promoting inclusivity within the community.
