POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Poonch Vikas Kundal reviewed the working of the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in the district, focusing on strategies to enhance rural income generation through Self-Help Groups (SHGs).
The meeting emphasised creating a robust roadmap for income generation in rural areas, particularly highlighting the importance of empowering women through Self-Help Groups and micro-credit schemes.
The Deputy Commissioner urged officials to expedite the formation of SHGs before the end of the financial year, reinforcing NRLM’s commitment to financial independence for women in rural communities.
Appreciating the efforts of SHG members engaged in various livelihoods, the Deputy Commissioner directed the initiation of additional livelihood interventions in both farm and non-farm sectors across the district’s blocks.
The meeting was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, District Programme Manager NRLM (All), Chief Planning Officer, and other concerned officers.
