DC Reasi reviews working of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department

REASI: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Reasi Nidhi Malik convened a comprehensive review meeting to assess the functioning of the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department.

The meeting focused on evaluating the progress and impact of key schemes and projects in rural areas, including the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Swachh Bharat Mission-Gramin (SBM-G), and initiatives under the Aspirational Block Development Programme (ABDP), Area Development Fund (ADF) and the Capex Budget.

During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed assessment of ongoing works. She directed the Block Development Officers (BDOs) to remain stationed in their respective blocks, actively inspect projects, and coordinate with Assistant Executive Engineers (AEEs) to ensure timely completion. She laid Special emphasis on accelerating progress under MGNREGA, with instructions to compile detailed work reports.

To enhance rural infrastructure and connectivity, the DC emphasised strict adherence to quality standards and called for actionable plans to address gaps in implementation.

The DC further directed BDOs to work closely with Tehsildars to expedite recovery from defaulters under the PMAY-G scheme. Additionally, the Executive Engineer (XEN) of the Roads & Buildings Department was tasked with developing durable and cost-effective solutions for PMAY-G beneficiaries and taking strict action against contractors failing to execute assigned works. She reiterated the administration’s commitment to fostering sustainable rural development through efficient implementation of government schemes and proactive field monitoring.
