KISHTWAR: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan (Chairman, MD DLTF) today convened a Multi-Departmental District Level Task Force (MD-DLTF) meeting to address concerns regarding mining activities in the District.
At the outset, the District Mineral Officer (DMO) Abhey Kumar briefed the meeting on the status of monitoring mechanism and enforcement actions put in place to keep check on illegal mining, including regulation of leased-out mining areas in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner directed that certifications for mining leases for development works be issued only after thorough scrutiny in adherence to established rules and regulations.
He also issued a stern warning against illegal mining, particularly in the Warwan River, emphasizing that no one will be allowed to compromise the ecological balance of the environment in the district.
The DC underscored the importance of active collaboration among all stakeholder departments and MD-DLTF members to develop a comprehensive mechanism to effectively counter illegal mining.
He stressed the need for strict and coordinated action, urging all departments to exhibit zero tolerance towards illegal activities and work collectively to safeguard the environment, but in the meanwhile the administration has to get sustained development also.
The meeting was attended by several key officials, including SSP Kishtwar, Javed Iqbal, DFO Kishtwar, Vijay Kumar, DMO Kishtwar (Member Secretary) Abhey Kumar, ExEn Jal Shakti, Sunil Sharma and other concerned officers and staff.
