DM, Director Social Welfare inspect hostels for blind, daycare facility for senior citizens

JAMMU: District Magistrate Sachin Kumar Vaishya along with Director Social Welfare, Rupesh Kumar inspected Louis Braille Memorial Residential Schools for Boys and Girls at Roop Nagar, here today. They also visited Golden Days Daycare and Recreation Centre for Senior Citizens today.

Additional District Development Commissioner Sher Singh and Tehsildar Jammu North Aman Kumar Anand were also present during the visits.

During these visits, the officers reviewed the facilities and services being provided to the residents. They interacted with the elderly and visually impaired children, ensuring their grievances and needs were addressed. The inspection aimed to evaluate the quality of accommodation, food, healthcare and other support services available at the homes.

Both the officers emphasised the importance of maintaining a clean and safe environment for the residents and directed the staff to adhere to high standards of care.

While the DM instructed the management to ensure timely medical check-ups and recreational activities for the inmates, the Director Social Welfare stressed the need for skill development programs to empower the visually impaired children.

The District Magistrate assured the residents of continued support from the administration and emphasised the government’s commitment to their welfare. Immediate steps were directed to address any gaps in the facilities.

Later, the District Magistrate, along with other officials, inspected the SOS Children’s Hostel at Gole, Jammu. During the visit, they thoroughly reviewed the facilities available for the children and scrutinised the records to ensure proper maintenance.
