JAMMU: Director Agriculture Jammu, S. Arvinder Singh Reen, today embarked on an extensive tour of Sub Division Dansal to review the progress of various agricultural initiatives under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

He was accompanied by SDAO Dansal Chander Shekhar, SMS Opinder Koul, AEO Tirath Singh and other staff from the Sub Division Office Dansal.

The Director conducted a review meeting at Zone Sidhra to assess the progress of HADP projects. He interacted with the field staff and emphasized the importance of effectively implementing the schemes at the ground level. He directed the Sub Divisional Officer to ensure that the benefits of the initiatives reach the farmers and contribute to their overall agricultural development.

Following the review meeting, the Director visited a Hi-Tech Polyhouse under HADP at Agri Entrepreneur Anshuman Singh’s farm in village Malori Jagir, Sub Division Dansal, where he observed the successful cultivation of the high-value crop Rock Melon. The Director praised the initiative, stating that the Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Department of Jammu has played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the Hi-Tech Polyhouse initiative under HADP Project No. 03 (Promotion of Vegetables/Exotic Vegetables under Open and Hi-Tech Protected Cultivation).

He emphasized that high-value crops cultivated in polyhouses not only fetch higher prices compared to traditionally grown produce but also provide farmers with the opportunity to grow crops year-round, ensuring a steady income stream. Furthermore, the ability to produce premium quality crops opens doors to lucrative markets, both locally and beyond, thereby increasing the farmers’ profit margins.

Later, the Director visited the Kissan Khidmat Ghar (KKG) established under HADP in Sub Division Dansal and interacted with Krishi Udhamis. He also inspected the infrastructure of the KKG, gaining insights into its functioning.
