REASI: District Development Commissioner (DDC) Reasi, Nidhi Malik chaired a comprehensive meeting to review the progress under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, aimed at transforming the power sector in the district.
During the meeting, the DDC emphasised the importance of metering all unmetered electricity connections across the district as a top priority. She directed officials to expedite the process, ensuring transparency and efficient energy usage for all households.
The DDC instructed Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs) to closely monitor the implementation of the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in their respective areas and oversee the metering of households. She also called for a district-wide mass Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign to raise awareness about the scheme. The campaign will be conducted under the supervision of the SDMs, with coordination between the Rural Development Department (RDD), Education Department, Revenue Department, and the Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL) Reasi.
To further amplify outreach, the DDC directed the Education Department to conduct symposiums, debates and discussions on the scheme during morning assemblies in schools. Additionally, all Drawing and Disbursing Officers (DDOs) in the district were instructed to provide JPDCL Reasi with details of employees whose households remain unmetered. This collective effort underscores the district’s commitment to achieving 100% metering and ensuring equitable access to affordable power for all residents under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana.
ADDC Reasi Sukhdev Singh Samyal, CPO Narinder Kumar, ACD, SDMs and other officials were present in the meeting.
