Good Governance Week: DC Kupwara presides over mega workshop at D.C office

KUPWARA: In connection with the celebration of ongoing Good Governance Week and Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore initiative of the Government, District Administration Kupwara today organized a mega Workshop in the Main Conference Hall of D.C Office here.

The event was presided over by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan, while retd. IAS Officer, Mohammad Shafi Rather was the chief guest on the occasion.

The DC in her address, welcomed the chief guest and said that ‘Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore’ is the initiative of the Ministry of ARI & Trainings wherein the districts have been called for resolving the grievances of the public, besides, outreaching to tehsils, blocks, panchayats and sub divisions to improve the connect between administration and the public.

She expressed hope that the valuable feedback by the chief guest who has been an experienced Administrator will benefit the officers in resolving the issues and grievances of the people in a better way.

The DC mentioned various developmental works going on in the district which on accomplishment will have a revolutionary impact on the lives of the people and include construction of National Highway-701, RKCTC (Rafiabad-Kupwara-Chowkibal-Trehgam-Chamkote) and Government Medical College.

She also highlighted the major schemes and programmes being currently implemented by the District Administration including Mission Yuva, HADP, JJM, Digitization of Land Records, etc.

In his speech, Mohammad Shafi Rather said that the Good Governance Week – Prashasan Gaon Ki Ore is an initiative by the Government to bring transparency and ease the public service delivery at the doorsteps of the people. He shared his experience with the participants about the time when he served as DC Kupwara and expressed delight over the development registered by the district till date. He expressed hope that this development will touch the heights in near future.

Rather said that the majority of the people living in district Kupwara are connected with Agriculture and earn their living from this sector and emphasized the need to boost this sector by putting special focus on programmes like HADP.

He said that the people are now more empowered that they have representatives at each level of administration including Panchayat, Block and District level which have further strengthened the governance process and brought a significant change in the lives of the people.

On the occasion, different departments including Health, Education, JJM, Agriculture, Horticulture etc highlighted the achievements and targets of their departments. Documentaries were also presented in the workshop, highlighting various developments in the recent past in the district including establishment of Government Medical College, Dialysis Centre, achievement of TB Free Kupwara, Aspirational District, besides, progress under other sectors were also showcased in these documentaries.

Meanwhile, various citizens present on the occasion put forth their demands and grievances related to their respective areas regarding water supply, electricity and other day to day issues. They were assured about the time bound resolution of their grievances.

ADC Kupwara, ACD, CPO, ACP, CMO, CEO, AD Fisheries AMO besides, other district/sectoral officers/officials and prominent citizens attended the day long workshop.
