Encourages students to inculcate reading habits

JAMMU: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmad Rana, today took first-hand appraisal of facilities in Gujjar and Bakerwal PG boys hostel, Jammu.

During his visit, Javed Rana also interacted with the students and encouraged them to dedicate their time and energy towards more fruitful activities.

While speaking on the occasion, Rana said that government is abreast of the problems faced by the inmates and is fully committed to provide requisite facilities to the student community. He also discussed various student support services at the hostel including the library, hostel facilities, good collection of books and other student welfare services.

He instructed the Director Tribal Affairs to come up with action plan for enhanced facilities for the benefit of student community to create an enabling environment for the students. He said the move is aimed at expanding the ambit of educational facilities for the children of marginalized sections of the society.

Encouraging students to inculcate reading habits, Rana said that reading expands knowledge base and wisdom. He said there is a need to connect the young generation with books and develop reading habits among children for which strengthening of libraries and availability of good books are very important.
