NEW DELHI: The Maharashtra Cabinet expansion is expected on December 14, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis meeting senior BJP leaders in the Capital to finalise ministerial candidates.

Fadnavis held discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president JP Nadda, and BJP general secretary (organisation) BL Santhosh, and submitted a shortlist of BJP ministerial hopefuls for approval by the party’s high command.

Addressing speculation, Fadnavis dismissed claims of differences with the Shiv Sena faction led by Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, who had reportedly been demanding the Home portfolio. He affirmed that both Deputy CMs, Ajit Pawar and Shinde, will finalise candidates from their respective parties.

Ajit Pawar confirmed that the Cabinet expansion is set for December 14. The BJP-led NDA achieved a landslide victory in Maharashtra, winning 230 out of 288 assembly seats, securing a four-fifth majority.
