The Sunday Market, a recent initiative by the DC, has been relocated to the Chowgan ground to address the traffic congestion previously encountered on the National Highway and in the town’s streets. During the visit, the DC interacted with vendors and shoppers to gather their feedback and impressed upon them to adhere to the Cleanliness guidelines by installing the dust bins outside their shops. He also inspected sanitation facilities and reviewed ongoing developmental works in the town and forwarded necessary directions to municipal authority.

Additionally, illegally parked vehicles and unauthorized street vendors were removed by enforcement agencies. Defaulters were issued challans and given warnings.

“The relocation of the Sunday Market to Chowgan is intended to provide adequate space for Sunday shopping and to ensure vehicles are parked at designated parking areas for public convenience. We are continuously monitoring the initiative and remain open to suggestions for improvement,” the DC stated.

The public expressed their appreciation for the new arrangement, citing the convenience of a centralized marketplace without the usual traffic disruptions.

The Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by ADC Kishtwar, Pawan Kotwal, EO Municipality, Mumtaz Mirza and other concerned staff members.
