BANDIPORA: As part of the ‘Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi’ initiative, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Manzoor Ahmad Qadri, on Thursday inaugurated a comprehensive training program for Anganwadi Workers at the Town Hall, Bandipora.
The training was organized by the Department of Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), Bandipora.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC stressed the need to integrate education with nutrition to promote the holistic development of children aged 0–6 years. He highlighted that Anganwadi centers, established to support the physical and mental development of children, reflect the Government’s commitment to enrich the Nation’s Human Resource.
Qadri reiterated the government’s commitment to equipping these centers with essential facilities and lauded the Anganwadi Workers for their consistent support and dedication.
Earlier, a short video presentation on the ‘Poshan Bhi, Padhai Bhi’ initiative was shown to the participants, emphasizing the importance of nutritional care and maintaining a balance in the physical and mental development of children.
While addressing the gathering, Yaar Ali Khan, District Program Officer, Bandipora, highlighted the role of Anganwadi Workers in educating children through the play-way method in their mother tongue.
He said that, as Anganwadi Workers are rooted in the same community, they are well-acquainted with the local environment and can efficiently impart education in the children’s mother tongue, fostering holistic development.
During the event, the Deputy Commissioner, along with Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Bandipora, Mohammad Ashraf Bhatt, and District Program Officer Bandipora released a book on early childhood care and education. The book aims to provide valuable resources to Anganwadi Workers to enhance their teaching methods.
The event was attended by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Bandipora, Dr. Rafi Salathi, Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), Anganwadi Workers, and other concerned officials.
