KUPWARA: The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today presided over a Block Diwas program at Dak Bungalow Tangdar.
The weekly outreach program drew participation from a large number of local residents from different areas of Karnah who apprised the DDC about their needs.
The issues raised during the Block Diwas included posting of Anesthesia specialist and Surgeon at SDH Tangdar, deployment of adequate men and Machinery by Beacon on Chowkibal Tangdar road for its early opening after snowfalls, making Tangdar town as Model Town, installation of solar street lights at Tangdar town, cleanliness, beautification and fencing of Nallah Butmoji, deployment of staff for Taad Nyabat, free tuition for government school students, speeding up the work on 12 MW electric project etc.
After giving patient hearing to the issues raised by public, the DDC assured attendees that all their genuine concerns would be addressed at priority with active coordination from relevant departments.
The DDC directed R&B, PDD to keep ready their men and machinery in wake of harsh winter.
She instructed the concerned sub division level officers and officials not to leave the stations without prior permission of SDM.
The DDC also instructed the Ex. Engineer PDD to devise a plan to reduce unscheduled power cuts and keep ready the buffer stock of transformers and electric wire and poles.
She appreciated the residents of different areas of Karnah Sub Division for raising constructive community issues pertaining to development and welfare of their areas.
During Block Diwas proceedings, DDC emphasized the importance of safety measures, particularly in light of adverse weather conditions, urging people to abide by weather advisories, and health advisories.
Among others, the Block Diwas was attended by SDM Karnah, ASP Kupwara, ACP Kupwara, Ex. Engineer PWD, CPO Kupwara, BDO Tangdar, BMO, CDPO and SHO Tangdar besides other officers and officials.
The DDC later chaired a winter preparedness meeting at Dak Bungalow Tangdar and reviewed winter preparedness.
She emphasized the officers and other functionaries for preparedness in anticipation of the challenges posed by the harsh winter season.
Stressing the importance of a proactive approach, the DDC directed all officers to ensure their men and machinery are fully ready to address emergencies like snow clearance, power outages, and disruptions after snowfall.
