Inaugurates maiden Jammu and Kashmir Master Games multi-sports event at Jammu
JAMMU: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary today remarked that the Sports activities will get major boost here besides sports infrastructure will be upgraded as per world class standards to nurture sports persons for international level competitions.
The Deputy Chief Minister made these remarks while addressing a gathering after inaugurating maiden Jammu and Kashmir Master Games multi-sports event at K.K Hakku Stadium here.
The event is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Master Games Association, in which the sports events of 16 disciplines like Football, Hockey, Table Tennis, Handball and others will be held.
Addressing the gathering, Surinder Choudhary expressed strong support for promoting sports and fitness at the grassroots level. He underlined that the government is committed to establish world-class infrastructure for athletes in Jammu and Kashmir .
“Government is dedicated to foster talent, provide better opportunities for our athletes and ensure that Jammu and Kashmir becomes hub for sporting excellence in the country”, the Deputy Chief Minister said.
He emphasized that sports not only contributes to the physical well-being but also instil important values like discipline, teamwork, and perseverance.
The Deputy Chief Minister commended the organisers for holding this event and advised them to hold such events in other districts of Jammu and Kashmir as well.
The Multi-Sports Event is scheduled to run for multiple days with various matches in 16 sports disciplines planned throughout the duration of the event.
CEO Super master games and sports federation of India, Vinod Kumar; Dronaachrya awardee, Kuldeep Handoo; former Indian Handball Chief Coach, J S Soodan; President J&K Olympic association, Asutosh Sharma, large number of athletes and sportspersons and students were also present on the occasion.
During the inaugural event, Hockey match was played between Laxmani Chand master eleven and Shri Chand master eleven, which the later won by 3-0.
