NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first three world leaders whose calls US President-elect Donald Trump took, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Sunday.

Jaishankar added India had the relations with the US all worked out.

“Let’s be honest. A lot of countries in the world today are nervous about the US. India is not one of them,” Jaishankar said at the Aditya Birla 25th Silver Jubilee Scholarship Programme event in Mumbai.

Asked what the Trump presidency would mean for India, Jaishankar said “The PM was among the first three calls President-elect Trump took. PM Modi has built a rapport with multiple US Presidents. When he first came to DC, Barack Obama was the President, then it was President Trump and then President Biden…”

In their conversation, PM Modi and President Trump vowed to work for world peace.
