Climate finance for developing nations key COP29 agenda

NEW DELHI: Strengthening resilience against the impacts of climate change and financial support required for developing countries to reduce their dependence on fossil fuels is set to be the major agenda at the United Nations 29th Conference of Parties (COP29), which will start from November 11 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Negotiators from 200 countries will discuss how the Paris Agreement can be implemented to limit temperature rise. There will be discussions on the Climate Finance Action Fund, which aims to raise finances for promoting adoption of clean energy technologies, improve efficiency and facilitate the development of cutting-edge technologies in developing countries which are still meeting energy needs from fossil fuel.
