Deputy CM reviews progress on PWD projects in Shopian, Pulwama

SRINAGAR: Deputy Chief Minister, Surinder Kumar Choudhary, today chaired a meeting at Civil Secretariat here to review progress on ongoing PWD projects being executed in Pulwama and Shopian districts.

Present in the meeting were MLAs of Pampore, Zainapora, Rajpora constituencies, Secretary PWD, Chief Engineer PMGSY Kashmir, Superintending Engineer, R&B Circle Pulwama/Shopian and other senior officers of the department.

Addressing the meeting, the Deputy CM stressed on time bound completion of various schemes in the twin districts. He asked the officers for ensuring regular monitoring of all vital works while strictly adhering to prescribed quality parameters and other norms and procedures. He emphasised on the officers to mobilise men and machinery so that these crucial development projects can be put to use for the benefit of people at the earliest.

“All the officers should take inputs from local MLAs so as to give a push to the local needs and demands. We have to strive towards prioritising and fulfilling the development needs of local populace,” maintained the Deputy Chief Minister.

During the meeting, Surinder Kumar Choudhary had constituency wise details of ongoing works being executed under various UT sector, centrally sponsored and district sector schemes.

The meeting had detailed discussion on various UT sector schemes and other departmental works besides CSS’s like JTFRP (World Bank), PMDP (Transit Accommodation), Central Road & Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) and other works.

It was informed in the meeting that 148 km of road length has been macadamised during the current financial year 2024-25 in the districts of Shopian and Pulwama, with 104 km in Pulwama and 44 km in Shopian. Besides, various mega projects which came up for discussion including transit accommodation for migrants at Lethpora and Allowpora, Government Degree Colleges in Zainapora and Rajpora, four lane approach road to AIIMS Awantipora and long bridges in the districts.

It was informed in the meeting that the projects are at different stages of completion and steps are afoot to complete them on time.
