RAJOURI: District Development Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma conducted a detailed inspection of the ongoing construction work at the Rapid Sand Filtration Plant (RSFP)- a component of the Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at Dandesar. With a total project cost of Rs. 719 lakh, the Dandesar WSS represents a critical investment in ensuring safe and accessible drinking water for thousands of residents in the district.
The RSFP, an advanced water purification facility, is one of the key components of this ambitious water supply scheme. Once completed, the filtration plant will significantly improve water quality by removing impurities and providing a reliable source of safe drinking water.
While the construction of the RSFP is currently underway, other integral components of the WSS, including the Overhead Tank (OHT) and Ground Storage Reservoirs (GSRs), have been completed successfully.
Additionally, the laying of pipelines is in progress, which will soon facilitate widespread water distribution to communities across the designated areas.
During his visit, the DDC conducted a comprehensive review of the work undertaken at the site, assessing construction quality, adherence to timelines, and overall progress. Accompanied by senior engineers and officials from the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department, the DDC interacted with on-site teams, addressing challenges faced during the construction phase and advising on ways to expedite the completion of the project.
Emphasizing the importance of the scheme, the DDC highlighted the positive impact it will have on the lives of local residents. “The Dandesar Water Supply Scheme is a lifeline project for our community, addressing critical water needs in a sustainable and reliable manner. The Rapid Sand Filtration Plant will ensure that the water supplied is not only adequate but meets high standards of quality,” he stated. He further expressed his satisfaction with the progress made so far and reiterated the district administration’s commitment to providing improved public utilities to residents.
He instructed the officials on-site to maintain the highest standards of construction and to fast-track the remaining components to ensure the scheme is operational as per schedule. DDC Sharma also underscored the importance of quality checks at each stage to prevent any future issues that may compromise water safety or distribution efficiency.
This project is expected to play a vital role in alleviating the challenges of water scarcity in Rajouri, ensuring sustainable access to clean drinking water, and contributing to the health and well-being of local communities. By addressing these foundational needs, the Dandesar WSS stands as a testament to the administration’s efforts to enhance public infrastructure and improve the quality of life in Rajouri.
