JAMMU: Series of Tribute paying and other programs, mainly dominated by spirited Run for Unity events, were held today across Jammu Division to mark the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary commemorated as the National Unity Day.
AT KATHUA: The District Administration Kathua organized a spirited “Run for Unity” early Tuesday morning. The event brought together a large cross-section of participants to honor Patel’s legacy and reinforce the importance of national unity.
The Run for Unity was flagged off from Sports Stadium Kathua, with participants tracing a route through Tangri Palace, Shaheedi Chowk, and Mukherjee Chowk before culminating at Ramlila Ground, Kathua. Among others present were Vice Chairman DDC Kathua Raghunandan Singh, MLA Kathua Dr. Bharat Bhushan, MLA Hiranagar Vijay Kumar, DDC Marheen Karan Attri, besides district administration functionaries led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rakesh Minhas. The event also saw a massive school and college students, and staff from various government departments.
Before the run commenced, Dr. Rakesh Minhas administered the National Unity Pledge to participants, underscoring the importance of unity as a foundational value for the nation.
AT UDHAMPUR: The District Administration Udhampur organized a “Run for Unity” rally with Deputy Commissioner Saloni Rai as the chief guest.
The rally was flagged off from Mini Stadium in the presence of Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure and other senior officers.
The event drew participation from civil society members, students and staff of educational institutions, besides district administration functionaries including Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Dr. Umesh Shan, Chief Planning Officer Mohd Iqbal and other district officers.
Addressing the gathering, the DC highlighted the importance of national unity and urged participants to embody the spirit of national integration.
The rally, promoting ideals of unity and integrity, traversed through key locations such as Town Hall, MH Chowk, Devika and culminated at the Government PG Degree College Udhampur.
Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner led a pledge-taking ceremony where officers, officials from different departments and students reaffirmed their commitment to uphold the values of unity and national integrity.
AT REASI: To commemorate Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, also known as National Unity Day, a spirited “Run for Unity” and Rashtriya Ekta pledge-taking ceremony was organized in Reasi. The event brought together students, government officials, and local residents to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
DC Reasi, Vishesh Mahajan, flagged off the “Run for Unity,” in presence of SSP Gaurav Sikarwar. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from school and college students, various government officials, and local citizens.
Addressing the gathering, DC Reasi underscored the significance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, highlighting the achievements of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhai Patel- also known as the Iron Man of India, who played a pivotal role in unifying the nation. He said that the enduring legacy of Sardar Patel as a symbol of strength and national unity would always be admired by the Nation. ADDC Sukhdev Samyal, SSP Jameel Ahmad, SSP IR battalion Anita Sharma, ADC Kulbushan Khajuria, ASP Iftikhar and other officials were present.
AT POONCH: Deputy Commissioner Vikas Kundal and SSP Mumtaz Ahmed flagged off the ‘run for unity’ Marathon to mark the birth anniversary of Iron man of India, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
People from all walks of life, including government functionaries, school children, and the general public participated in the marathon. The run commenced from SSP Office and concluded at Sports stadium after taking an integrity pledge.
AT RAMBAN: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the District Administration Ramban, under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Baseer-Ul-Haq Chaudhary, hosted a grand ‘Run for Unity’ as part of the Vigilance Awareness Week celebrations. Themed on promoting transparency and combating corruption, the event saw the enthusiastic participation of over 2,000 people, including students, united in a call for integrity in public service and daily life.
The event was flagged off from the District Administrative Complex by Senior Superintendent of Police Kulbir Singh in presence of Additional District Development Commissioner Roshan Lal, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak. At the District Police Line Ramban, SSP Kulbir Singh administered a pledge of unity to all participants, emphasizing the administration’s dedication to fostering ethical conduct and accountability within the community.
AT KISHTWAR: To commemorate National Unity Day, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rajesh Kumar Shavan flagged off the “Run for Unity” event from the historic Chowgan Ground to ITI Kishtwar via Hidyal Chowk.
The event saw enthusiastic participation from District officers, senior citizens, community members, ASHA workers, police personnel, teachers, students and staff from educational institutions, besides officials of different departments, who came together to promote the values of unity, peace, and harmony.
A bike rally was also held by the district police authorities, with participants joining the Run for Unity to symbolize the spirit of togetherness and celebrate the Union Territory’s rich cultural heritage.
The DC emphasized the importance of solidarity, brotherhood, National Integrity and commitment to the nation’s development and progress. He expressed his appreciation for the community’s active involvement.
The event concluded with administering the Unity Pledge to all participants.
AT RAJOURI: The District Administration Rajouri commemorated National Integration Day and J&K UT Foundation Day by hosting a series of impactful events, fostering unity, pride, and national integration.
The day’s activities began with the ‘Run for Unity,’ a powerful symbol of collective strength and harmony. Jointly flagged off by DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Tejinder Singh, and Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma, the run began at Dak Bungalow and concluded at the Sports Stadium in Kheora. Participants of all ages, including district officials and enthusiastic youth, took part, showcasing their dedication to unity and national values.
At the Sports Stadium, participants gathered to take the National Unity Day pledge, reaffirming their commitment to principles of peace and cohesion. A spirited march-past ensued, featuring diverse contingents from across the district, including Chowkidars and Numberdars, who displayed their dedication to serving the nation. The District Administration also recognized the top three male and female finishers of the ‘Run for Unity,’ honoring them with awards for their exemplary performance.
AT DODA: To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the District Administration Doda celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas by hosting a spirited “Run for Unity” marathon.
The event was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Harvinder Singh here from the Sports Stadium amid participation of a large gathering of students, government officials, personnel from the police, Indian Army, and local residents. SSP Mohammad Aslam; ADC Sudershan Kumar and other district officers were also present, adding to the significance of the occasion.
Earlier, the celebration began with the integrity pledge readout by DC in both Hindi and English, affirming the commitment to national sovereignty and unity. .
AT SAMBA: In observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day) and as part of the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week, the District Administration Samba organized an inspiring ‘Run for Unity’ event. Led by Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma, the event witnessed active participation from students, district officers, and citizens who gathered to promote the spirit of unity and national integration.
The ‘Run for Unity’ commenced from the District Administrative Complex and concluded at the open ground in front of the Samba Police Station. DC Rajesh Sharma was joined by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vinay Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jagdish Singh, and other district officers who ran alongside the enthusiastic crowd of students and citizens.
Following the run, Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma administered the Rashtriya Ekta Pledge to the participants, including students and govt officials, reinforcing the importance of unity and integrity in upholding the values of the nation.
