KATHUA: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr Rakesh Minhas, today chaired a meeting of District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT) to discuss the plan for effective utilization of funds collected by the trust.
Threadbare discussion was held regarding the utilization of funds available with the trust as per PMKKKY guidelines.
All the members gave their valuable suggestions regarding the utilization of funds in various sectors including education, sanitation, health, social welfare, labor, JJM, PWD etc keeping in view the requirement to be fulfilled on urgent basis and where there is apprehension regarding delay in availability of funds.
Deliberating upon the formulation of plan for the year 2024-25, the DC asked for the utilisation of the funds in high priority fields like Drinking water supply, check dams, water recharge structure, playgrounds and construction of new classrooms in schools. The DC also added that the funds under DMF should be utilised to develop mining affected areas in Kathua, Hiranagar, Billawar and Bani.
The DC asked all the stakeholders to prepare the estimates of works to be done under DMF, and the same will be discussed in the next meeting.
