NEW DELHI: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will meet Union Food Minister Pralhad Joshi at 12 noon on Monday to discuss solutions to the ongoing paddy procurement challenge which has led to farmers’ protests, bringing several cities of Punjab to a bridging half.
Farmer unions SKM and BKU Ekta Ugrahan disrupted traffic and railway tracks on Sunday impacting several passenger trains.
Arthiyas have also joined the protest demanding 2.5 per cent commission on procurement and rice millers are protesting, too, asking for old stocks to be moved out of stores to make place for fresh.
Mann had earlier written to Joshi on the issue.
