SRINAGAR: The sounds of joy and excitement echoed through Srinagar as the Legends Cricket League marked the return of international cricket to Bakshi Stadium after more than four decades. This was not just a match; it was the fulfillment of a long-held dream for the people of Kashmir, who gathered in throngs to witness this momentous occasion.

According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), fans began lining up outside the stadium in the afternoon, their faces alight with anticipation to see international cricketers. People of all ages—young children and seasoned cricket lovers alike—flocked to see their favourite players in their homeland.

As the gates opened, the crowd surged into the stadium, cheers filling the air as the names of legendary players echoed throughout. For many, this was a scene the valley had not experienced in decades.

Fayaz Ahmad, a young cricket enthusiast from Srinagar, expressed his awe: “I grew up hearing stories about international matches in Srinagar, but I never thought I would witness one in my lifetime. Today, standing here in this crowd, it feels like a dream come true. The energy and excitement are overwhelming.”

The thrill continued to build as fans eagerly anticipated more cricket legends to grace the pitch. Tomorrow’s match between the India Capitals and Manipal Tigers promises to be a spectacle, with fans excited to see players like Dwayne Smith, Colin de Grandhomme, and Upul Tharanga in action.

According to a statement from Legends League Cricket, Toyam Hyderabad registered a thrilling win, defeating Southern Superstars by 5 wickets at Bakshi Stadium. After winning the toss, Southern Superstars opted to bat first, posting a score of 153/5 in 20 overs. Hamilton Masakadza and Martin Guptill opened for Southern Superstars, with Masakadza scoring 16 and Guptill 23.

Kedar Jadhav contributed with 15 runs, while Shreevats Goswami remained unbeaten on 37. For Toyam Hyderabad, Sudeep Tyagi took 2 wickets for 22 runs, helping his team successfully chase down the target in 18.2 overs.

Abdur Razzak was the standout bowler for Southern Superstars, taking 2 wickets for 39 runs.
