DEO Kishtwar holds Maiden online interactive meeting with BLOs

KISHTWAR: The Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Rajesh Kumar Shavan, who also serves as the District Election Officer, today convened his maiden interactive meeting with all the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) of the district through online mode.

The meeting focused on apprising the BLOs of their critical roles and responsibilities in the upcoming General Election to the Legislative Assembly, scheduled for September 18, 2024, in Kishtwar.

During the separate interaction session with BLOs of all the three Assembly Constituencies Viz 48-Inderwal, 49-Kishtwar, and 50-Nagseni Paddar, the DEO emphasized the pivotal role BLOs will play in ensuring the free, fair and smooth Assembly Election in the district.

 He urged the officers to commence the mapping exercise immediately, with particular attention to facilitating the participation of Persons with Disabilities (PWD), elderly voters, and nomadic communities in the upcoming elections.

The DEO further discussed strategies to maximize voter turnout, underscoring the importance of the BLOs working in close coordination with the District Election Authority and other stakeholders. He highlighted the need for extensive voter sensitization efforts under SVEEP campaign to encourage maximum awareness of Voting Rights.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the responsibilities of BLOs in overseeing the logistics, Sanitation, Assured Minimum Facility (AMF) at all 428 polling stations particularly in Modal Polling stations in the district.

The meeting was also attended by RO 49-Kishtwar/ADC Kishtwar Pawan Kotwal, RO 48-Inderwal /Dy DEO Kishtwar Idrees Lone, RO 50-Nagseni Paddar/SDM Paddar Amit Kumar, ENT Angrez Singh Jasrotia, besides other officials.
