NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will hear on Friday a petition seeking the postponement of NEET-PG examination scheduled for August 11. A Bench led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud on Thursday said the matter would be listed on Friday after a lawyer sought urgent hearing of the petition, which alleged that candidates had been allocated cities highly inconvenient for them to reach.

The plea said the test cities were allotted on July 31 and the specific centres on August 8. While the allocation of centres was done to curb malpractices, due to the paucity of time it was difficult for candidates to make arrangements for travel to specific cities, the petition filed by Vishal Soren contended.

Soren has sought a direction to the NTA to reschedule the exam. Initially scheduled to be held on June 23, the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-Postgraduate Exam was postponed by the Health Ministry as a “precautionary measure” in the wake of alleged irregularities in certain competitive exams.
