India to host 30-nation drill

NEW DELHI: India will host its first-ever multilateral air exercise ’Tarang Shakti’ that will see participation of 30 countries.

The exercise will be held at Sulur in Tamil Nadu from August 6-14, and the second phase from August 29-September 14 at Rajasthan’s Jodhpur. Among the countries sending in their air assets are France Spain, Germany, the UK, Australia, Bangladesh, Greece, Singapore, the US and the UAE.

Indian Navy and its MiG 29K jets will be part of the phase-I. Air Marshal A P Singh, Vice Chief of the Air Staff, said there would be no maritime exercises.
